Parenting Support

Being a parent is exhilarating but not easy! Seeing your child struggling with anxiety or depression that is robbing them of their joy, impacting their grades, or affecting their relationships with others is heartbreaking. They may act out their pain in aggressive outburst or turn their pain inwards and may engage in self-harming behaviours. Books and on-line resources can often be helpful but are often difficult to implement on your own. Dr. Morris can help by offering parenting support. Parent support/consultation helps parents by improving their parenting of and communication with their children.

If you would like more tools in your toolbox to help your child, decrease problem behaviours and improve family functioning, please contact me.

Adjustment to parenthood

A child’s birth is a time is an exciting time filled with much joy. It can also be a very stressful time, disorientating time, and many mother experience the “baby blues”. For some mothers, however, the extreme changes in hormone levels and sleep deprivation can trigger post-partem depression, anxiety, or even psychosis. It is often difficult for new mothers to reach out for the help they need due to stigma and societal pressures. Dr. Morris is a mother of two children and can relate to the roller coaster of emotions that motherhood can bring.

This is an area of passion for Dr. Morris and she has experience working on maternal mental health issues in countries from around the world. Contact me if you would like some support in navigating through this transition.
